Advanced Novice Ladies preview, British Figure Skating Championships 2013

November 23, 2013

The Advanced Novice Ladies Competition is always the most fiercely contested of all the events at the British Figure Skating Championships with record entries every time, and this year will be no different.

With the top three from this event here last year all moving up to Junior level it is time for three new medalists to step into the limelight.  But with so many worthy contenders, and so much young talent coming through, just who will that be?

Last year’s 4th place finisher Malika Sharshenbaeva started her campaign well this year with a win at the Lee Valley IJS, and recently had a promising International result at the Volvo Open Cup in Latvia.  Harriet Beatson, who placed 5th at this event last year, achieved some solid International results in 2013 as well as a 3rd place finish at the Sheffield IJS in August.  A young lady with International success now under her belt is Morgan Swales who recently placed 2nd at Crystal Skate of Romania…..and placing 3rd at that same Competition was Anna Litvinenko, winner at the Sheffield IJS and currently no 1 in the Advanced Novice Ladies National rankings with a score she obtained at Skate Southern in September.  Runner up to Anna at the Sheffield IJS was Kloe Rozgonyi who then went on to have a win of her own at the Welsh Open Championships in October.  And Danni Tewnion, who finished 7th here last year, placed 3rd at the Welsh Open Championships and then had a good International result at the Volvo Open Cup.  Hoping to be in the running as well will be Lowri Jones who placed 3rd at the Lee Valley IJS and also recently competed Internationally at the Volvo Open Cup, Shannon Carrick who placed 2nd at the Welsh Open Championships, Charlie Anderson who placed 4th at the Sheffield IJS after scoring a 3rd place finish in the FP and Abby Green who recently saw International action at the Tirnavia Ice Cup in Slovakia.

So many names, so few medals……..just who do YOU think is going to take the top three spots in this Competition this year?

The Advanced Novice Ladies Competition is on Tuesday and Wednesday 26th/27th November.
